Everand: Ebooks and audiobooks App Reviews

This rating is for the app, not the service. I love Scribd, and have subscribed to it for over a year. It provides a wide selection of books and audiobooks, and the convenience of reading straight from your device wherever you are. That said, the current version of this app is practically non-functional. It no longer switches quickly from the search screen to books text, and scrolling in the search screen takes FOREVER. The app freezes often, and crashes too. I just restarted the app eight times in an effort to scroll down a little bit on the main interface so that I could purchase a book. Sadly, this was not an isolated incident, but rather a process that I engage in 80 percent of the time that I spend using Scribd. Please fix this. I cant help but think it would be less frustrating and perhaps faster to order a book on Amazon Prime and wait for it to be delivered to me. Instant gratification is the benefit of Scribd, but right now I only feel instant frustration.

I think you completely misunderstand the meanings of those words. The app is even worse than before. Its probably worth the extra $10/mo to switch to Amazon...

I was a subscriber to Oyster for years until it sold. So I thought Scribd might be decent and gave it a shot. If you dont know for your payment you get 3 books and 1 audiobook. Personally, I wanted more books and no audiobook. But every month I picked one as to not waste and I was done with my other books in a week or so. I hadnt even finished the first audiobook before I cancelled my 5 month subscription. I messed their customer service to ask if I am still able to listen to the books I paid for if I cancelled. A week later I still got no reply. But I have an answer. NO you must be a member or you loss all the audiobooks/books you paid for. I think that is just bad business and pretty much stealing from your customers. I will never use this app again or recommend to anyone. Get the kindle app! So much better.

Its really a good app

UPDATE: I completely deleted and reinstalled the app and now the scrolling is working again. Leaving my review (but adding stars) because this might help someone else. I love Scribd and read from it daily on my phone--until the most recent (Jan 2017) update. Now the screen is frozen and wont allow scrolling... it might scroll a little bit but then it gets stuck again. Ive opened and closed the app, restarted my phone--still no luck.

Once a book is loaded, it is fine, and Ive had many good reads. But lately search and select is very sluggish, and the app freezes and crashes regularly. --- After latest update, still freezes, only now, all the time.

I quit Scribd and moved to Oyster a couple of years ago because of the freezing app. Oysters demise brought me back. I was pleased that the freezing had thawed. But its back to the old Scribd with the last update that was aimed at correcting freezing. They missed.

This app needs to be updated so it doesnt take forever to load every single time its used. Very low level and obviously the Scribd team doesnt care about the client experience.

I primarily use The audiobooks and have been able to find almost every book I have wanted and more than on other sites and services I have tried. The app has worked perfectly fine for me without and delays or problems.

Tells you that you can sign up to store offline. Then after you give them your info they say you actually need to pay to do so. I cant start reading anything as it loads forever so thats why I wanted to try to store offline.

Im an ebook reader with an iPad Air dedicated to reading. I began a subscription to Scribd 4 months ago. While I like their selections & concept, I do wish we could swap audio books for ebooks as I never use them. 2 months ago, the app started freezing, making it nearly impossible to use. After doing the basic troubleshooting without results and writing support, I was able to access the app from my phone and PC to make selections. This past week, after they updated the app and posted theyd solved the freezing problem, it now chokes and freezes to the point of unusability. I am canceling my subscription and deleting from my iPad.

Been with Scribd about 2-3 years. Buy the one year plan, its so much cheaper. Selection could be a little better (explains the 4 stars, not 5 stars) but it gets better all the time. Between my librarys e-books, Scribd and a rare purchase I find everything. 95% I find in Scribd. I do several audiobooks a year with Scribd and they work well but I love e-books: the dictionary, search for forgotten character details, highlighting, note taking are all literally on your finger tip. Reading is about words and the brain, I understand the sensual pleasure of paper, but its over-rated. Read inside a paper bag with a folded newspaper cap on and youll have all the pleasure of paper with all the clean truth of e-books and so far Scribd is the way to get there. I looked at every alternative including my Amazon prime and the other e-book subscriptions Scribd is the easiest to use and the support has been great. And, hey!, Im well into geezer-hood.

I am enjoying the service. I wish I could use it on my Kindle Fire. Reading from a phone can become tedious.

Not only do you get a great selection of items - from books to sheet music/tabs, but the interface is very classy and a joy to read on my iPad. Well done!

Lots of available titles. The sheet music selection alone is worth the price. The layout and page turns are smooth and easy. Selection is good and expanding.

Should offers little more books and a little more audiobooks per month, love the reading lists and functionality

Either lower the monthly fee with a higher initial fee, or just have a larger initial fee with no monthly fee

Got pulled in by a google search for an obscure manual but could only see actual document content by taking a subscription. Turns out almost all of the so-called documents were full of auto-generated links to other pay-sites and completely useless.
