Is there a reason I couldn’t figure out how to unsubscribe from this and was just charged $8.99 for an app I never even used?? Can I get my money back
very good app
I absolutely despise any app that purposely makes it impossible to cancel the account from the app. It’s not hard for developers to include the ability to cancel the account in the app. They don’t include the capability so that users get frustrated, give up and before they know it they’ve been billed for another month. Thankfully California is passing a law that will force vendors to allow cancellation via the same method users sign up. It’s about time.
WTH!!! I can’t even search a title anymore and I’m paying 8.99 A MONTH for WHAT THEN a bunch whatever titles you want me to see?
Can’t beat this subscription. Less money than Audible, and it offers books and more in addition to the audiobooks.
First, I love the app and it is one of the best audiobook and book services around. There is a huge catalog in books and audiobooks, and most are enjoyable. It is easy to use and look throughout the app. However, something I would like to know or added to the app is a way of seeing how many hours I’ve listened to or how many books I have read. It would be a small feature but would enhance the app just a bit more. Overall, worth the membership.
I like the idea of the service and unlimited audiobooks and price. However, I wish the service would be consistent with some series. If you have 1-3 of the books but not the first it kind of defeats the purpose. Also the search/filter service needs to be better filtered for easy browsing. A new release section would be nice too.
The dictionary is not very easy to access. When I press on a word to look up, the system jumps to another word or location. Other times, the system brings up the magnifying glass showing the area without any words. I have had the system refuse to highlight anything to lookup. Very frustrating, so I just keep reading. The app interface is not useful, including the website’s interface. The home page does not show new books available to be read, nor does it provide any lists of any best sellers or top books. As such, the site provides information of worthless titles. What I don’t understand is why some books cannot be accessed. For example: I want to read the Sean Dillon series by Jack Higgins, but I get a message indicting those titles are not available, although the books are clearly there. However, I can access nonSean Dillon books by Jack Higgins. It’s inexplicable.
It’s not really unlimited. Once you download a few books all the good books disappear or say they are available in the next billing cycle. Even when you search for a specific book it won’t show up. If you log out it magically shows up again. It’s a great deal but they should be upfront about what you are getting.
Excellent service...the explore function of the app can be enhanced as well as the audio book function. Excellent selection of book and audios.
I have been an audible member for many years but with rent, bills, other expenses it has been increasingly difficult for me to keep my membership. IN COME ScribD like a shining book superhero complete with cape! 😀 This app is absolutely incredible and the price for the service cannot be beat. I have also been pleasantly surprised at the audiobook selection and narrators for each audiobook I have listen to. Many of them have been narrators I have already come to know and love 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I only have one request: I am blind and use the screen reader voiceover on my iPhone and iPad. Unfortunately to read e-books it is not accessible using this app. Pages cannot be turned. Please fix this. Other than that I could not be happier! Pretty sure I will be ditching my Audible subscription and using ScribD.
I initially used my Facebook account to access scribe. I have since disabled my Facebook account but continue to use the email address. The app will not allow me to either create a new account with my email and I absolutely do not want to go back to Facebook. Please advise.
Seriously the best audiobook app! Especially since the books are unlimited. There’s no way I would ever switch to any of the other apps.
I love having books at my fingertips like this! It’s also very aesthetically pleasing xoxo
It’s not unlimited. My access to the audiobooks I wanted to listen to was blocked in less than a week. It’s better than audible, in my opinion. But it would be great if they would be more transparent and clear about what the limitations are.
Have only had the app for a little bit Cee one month. In the beginning this app was great. I downloaded one book and have saved many more. The problem in the last week is that the app suddenly “dies”. Multiple times in a 30 minute time frame. Then I have to restart the app. Of course it doesn’t save or remember the last page I was on. Takes me straight to the Introduction. Once I find my place I have approximately thirty seconds to read a page before the app disappears again. I really like the book I am currently reading. Once I finish it I am cancelling my subscription. It is too frustrating to use and not worth paying for.
I find choices improving, widen range of products, materials in mindfulness, meditation, and compassion. Overall ratings 4-5. Books choices are improving, Wow—Legacy of Spies is available, Note there is delay in getting some of the latest books Ie Elizabeth Moon’s Vatta Peace thus 4-5 rating. I gave up on Kindle unlimited since your choices are better. I kept the Audible to get the latest sooner. Also it will help when knowing in a series, the Order of moods and availability to minimize search time. I’m listening to Tanya Huff valor series, I had to search out the order first elsewhere to know where to start. This is not indicated on authors section.
I love that I have found the most extensive library of literature. I can find anything from esoteric obscurities to textbooks for school!
I exclusively use these app to view pdf documents. If I log in from the website I can easily export pdf documents to other apps I use. But for some reason, they’ve made it that you can’t export PDFs from within the app, you can only save them in the app and not actually use them in any third party applications. This is a silly feature omission/limitation that has forced me to delete the app from my phone and ipad so that visiting the website doesn’t open the limited app. Allow us to export PDFs from the app and I will keep my paid subscription and change this one star rating.
I like this app because it does have lots of good books to read but the only issue is that it freezes alot especially when you are in the middle of reading and the page will not go to the next page so you have to exit out of the app.
Amazing amazing amazing
I enjoy the service you provide. I love the books and the audio books are great. I have a hard time finding specific books. I put the titles in the search box and many times the books don’t come up on the found area. I do a search of my own and find the books myself. This happens often. I know I am missing several good books that you have in your lists. Please fix this.
I canceled my subscription and I continue to get charged and get overdraft fees I need help with this ASAP
I absolutely love this app! Finally
I’ve been with Scribd for years now, the app used to work without a glitch, it was great. But as of a few months ago, it has started to have glitch after glitch. It will log me out and erase all my saved books, it will not let me play any book, even the ones saved offline. It will say playback error, please connect to the internet, if I downloaded for offline play, why do I still need the internet. The app itself has become painfully slow, I’ll try to scroll through the lists and it won’t recognize I have swiped until many seconds later. There is a serious lag, makes it so hard to search and scroll, everything is painfully slow. I’m absolutely hating this app now. This needs to be fixed now! And yes! Before anyone asks, I have erased it and re-downloaded it many times! It doesn’t help!
I kept waiting for the price of this service to increase (like most things do) or the services to decrease. I was pleasantly surprises when I received the notice about the change in services. Not only did the cost stay the same, but the services went from a few books per month to unlimited. I wish the electric company would take note of this! I am a fan for life!
es la mejor app para leer💯
I absolutely love Scribd!!! The selection of books, audiobooks, magazines, articles, etc is outstanding! I use this app everyday!
I love this app and subscription it’s brought back the joy of reading for me.
I recently signed up for Scribd and have liked the range of books available. Works well on my iPhone and cool to have unlimited books in a month.
This app is good, it has a great variety of materials. I love that I can read as many books as I want, and not have to wait for them like you do with the library. However, ever since the update, it has been crashing more often then normal. It plays for about 4 minutes then crashes. If this were fixed, this app would be 5 stars for sure.
Every time I search for a new release it is nowhere to be found on this app. If you are looking for older books, it’s good. If you are looking for new releases, look elsewhere.
This is the best money I’ve ever spent. This $10 a month App lets me feed my book addiction without busting my wallet. I used to haunt other book Apps looking for deals and sales trying to keep a lid on my book spending. Scribd has so many books I sometimes don’t know where to start! Highly recommended.
The unsubscribe button is unclear. It says “you still have ___ days of reading left” when you click unsubscribe but it doesn’t tell you that you’re not done yet. You have to click TWO more small buttons to actually unsubscribe. Good service overall but that is a tricky business practice and I would refund it if I could.
The iPhone does not recognize this as an audiobook or podcast so it does not pause the audio when Apple Maps is giving navigation. This is unbelievably frustrating since I listen to all of my audiobooks while driving with navigation going. On the upside, the interface is great and that’s the only problem I’ve found so far
When i started using Scribd it was great! 3 books and 1 audio book a month was awesome, and then unlimited?? Even better. I was sadly mistaken when I thought that it would be better. The selection of regular books has decreased tremendously to the point that it is hard to find a well known author unless it’s an audio book. Now I keep getting told that this book will be available whenever my next billing cycle starts, and I’ve barely listened to 2 books by well known author. I used to love this app so much but now not so much. It was way better before this so,called “unlimited”.
I would love to give them great review but since they will never answer question. No customer service. They make you write a tickets to wait for 3 weeks no answer.
I can’t play audiobooks - period. Not streaming, I can’t download them on WiFi, I am considering cancelling.
This app has the potential to be revolutionary. E-Books are the future. Very beneficial
I love Scribd! Fantastic! Much better than any others! I’ve already read several books with a whole library I’m building out here. It’s every serious readers dream app.
The audiobook progress bug seems fixed, but now I lost all my progress in ebooks. I like this app but it doesn’t do basic things you expect from digital reading, such as automatically saving your place.
UPDATE -Yeah, nowhere near unlimited reading/listening as advertised. Since the start of my billing cycle (two weeks ago) I have listened to exactly two audiobooks. One which was published in the 1950s the other in 2007. So not exactly new releases. And my access to audiobooks has already been throttled. I’m not sure how this company is attempting to define “unlimited”, but I can assure them this is not a generally accepted definition. Very shady company. ORIGINAL REVIEW Honestly, the issues with this app are just getting worse. They are numerous, so I’ll only detail the most egregious ones. Mainly the audio playback is extremely buggy. Even when books are saved offline rather than streaming, there are consistent faults in the playback. It constantly stops playing for no apparent reason and you need to go back into the app to restart playback. It also loses its place approximately 30% of the time I attempt to play an already-started book. Every time you exit a book it prompts you to save it, and now they also have these obnoxious pop-ups asking you to save books while you’re actively reading them. You cannot exit out of them and they block the bottom 1/4 of what you are trying to read. This makes it a pain to preview books you may be interested in. After they switched to “unlimited” there was mention of limiting the amount available to “super users” (so, in fact, not unlimited) but they absolutely will not explain what that means! No idea what constitutes a super user or how they decide what books will be available to these users. I wonder if this is why they are so intent on having us save books. Perhaps just saving a book counts against you so they can limit your options. As there is no transparency it seems likely it is something shady like that.
I truly love this that's why I have this and not Netflix. The absolute best $8 a month? Awesome!
I wanted to read a court case which was on scribd. Downloaded the app. Forced to sign in so I used my Facebook account. Went to the online page and clicked open in scribd. App will not allow you to open/save without a $9 subscription. No thanks. With 2 min work I can fetch the pdf using my laptop and email it to my phone. App is pretty much useless if you can’t use it to read / save offline.
I installed the Scribd app into my iPad Pro 12.9 and I use the iPad upside down so that I can keep it plugged in while using it. However, the scribe app refuses to flip upside down. I have to open a book to get it to flip upside down and when it does, it behaves glitchy and it turns the clock in the middle top of the iPad upside down. I don’t have these kinds of problems with other reading apps. I guess whoever designed it didn’t think people might want to read books while charging their iPads. 🤯
I've been really impressed by the overall selection in the Scribd library. I read and research a lot. Scribd has been a great find for me. One request...PLEASE work on the highlighting Feature. It's not very easy to highlight in the books.
Couldn’t live without this app.
Needs more of a selection when comes to a audio book but other then that I will enjoy for now
Excellent app. I have had this subscription for over a year. I love that there are no longer monthly book limits. I use this daily for ebooks to read on my iPad and audio books to listen to on my phone in the car. Large book selection. Very rarely do I have to go to my library's reading app. I wish I knew how/why books are selected for this app, as I would like some authors added, but I can always find something excellent to read on Scribd.
